Eugene Peterson named it before we felt it: discipleship is a long obedience in the same direction. Not a weekend of intensity, but a life of unspectacular faithfulness. This morning we read Luke 9 and stay with the plain command to take up a cross daily — not as a brand, but as a way of walking.
